TORONTO - Infield prospect Devon Travis thinks hes ready to play at the major-league level. Miles Sanders Eagles Jersey .The Toronto Blue Jays could very well give him that opportunity next season.Travis, acquired by the Blue Jays on Wednesday in a trade with Detroit, spent last season with the double-A Erie SeaWolves. Baseball America recently ranked him as the top prospect in the Tigers organization but he has never played at the triple-A level or higher.Toronto used a variety of players at second base last season including Ryan Goins, Steve Tolleson, Maicer Izturis, and even third baseman Brett Lawrie. The position appears to be wide open and could go to the player who has the strongest spring.Speaking Thursday on a conference call, Travis said he spoke with Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos after the trade was finalized and was told hed get a shot to compete for a big-league job.He told me that going into spring training, as long as no other big moves were made, that Im going to have every opportunity and a chance to compete for the job out of camp, Travis said. So that was pretty exciting to hear.Travis, selected by Detroit in the 13th round of the 2012 first-year player draft, hit .298 and stole 16 bases in 100 games last season. The 23-year-old native of West Palm Beach, Fla., had 20 doubles, seven triples, 10 home runs, 52 RBIs and a .358 on-base percentage.Obviously this year was a big test for me and I felt pretty comfortable, he said. His season was cut short by a sports hernia and he underwent surgery in September. Travis said the procedure was followed by over a month of rehabilitation and his normal off-season plan remains intact.I feel great, he said. Im 100 per cent.Toronto gave up Anthony Gose in the deal with the Tigers. The speedy outfielder was given several chances with the Blue Jays over parts of the last three seasons but was unable to make a consistent impact.Gose, 24, batted .226 with a .311 on-base percentage in 94 games with the Blue Jays last season. He had two homers, 13 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.Travis, who is five foot nine and 195 pounds, feels he brings a strong work ethic and tenacity to the field.Ive always been the smallest guy on my team from five years old on up, he said. Ive just been the little guy thats always dirty and diving for no reason, trying to make plays that I know Im not going to make.Just little things like that. Coming to the field and bringing everything I have.Travis added hes happy to now be on the same side as Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez and Drew Hutchison, three of the teams rising pitching stars. And while he was surprised to be traded, hes very excited to be joining the Blue Jays. Its something thats pretty incredible and Im definitely looking forward to the opportunity, he said. ———Follow @GregoryStrongCP on Twitter.___With files from The Associated Press. Wilbert Montgomery Jersey . Leaning forward with both hands on his knees, Buffon appeared to be resting or somehow trying to withstand the rain. Or perhaps the 36-year-old goalkeeper and Italy captain was reflecting on this: He is only the third player in history to be part of five World Cup squads, along with Germany great Lothar Matthaus and former Mexico goalkeeper Antonio Carbajal. Chuck Bednarik Youth Jersey . In a pregame tribute commemorating his final contest at Coors Field on Wednesday night, Helton caught the ceremonial first pitch from his daughter with his wife, younger daughter and good friend Peyton Manning watching from the field. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Shareef-Miller-Jersey/ . The 25-year-old native of Milford, Conn., has 18 points in 41 games this season. The five-foot-eight 166-pound centre also has 28 points (10-18) in 15 games with AHL Oklahoma City.WASHINGTON -- Bottom of the ninth, game tied and the potential winning run is on base. In these moments, there is nowhere Jayson Werth would rather be than walking to the plate with bat in hand. Werth hit a game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the ninth after the Brewers tied it in the top of the inning and the Washington Nationals beat Milwaukee 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. Washingtons bullpen tossed five scoreless innings in relief of Gio Gonzalez until Rickie Weeks RBI single in the ninth off closer Rafael Soriano (1-1), who earned the win despite blowing his third save in 25 chances. Anthony Rendon reached on a fielders choice against Rob Wooten (1-4) with two outs in the ninth. Enter Werth. "Thats what its all about, right? Its why we do this," Werth said of the pressure-packed moment. "If you find yourself in that situation and you dont want to be there, I think youre in the wrong line of work." Taking advantage of a 3-1 count, the right fielder drilled the pitch into the left field corner, scoring Rendon from first. "Im still huffing and puffing," Rendon said. Washington took two of three in the series between teams that entered Sunday as division leaders. The Nationals have won four of five overall. Ryan Zimmerman had two hits, including a two-run homer, for the Nationals. The Brewers have lost 13 of 16. Tied with St. Louis entering Sunday, Milwaukee has led or held a share of first place of the NL Central every day since April 5. Pinch-hitter Scooter Gennett singled with one out against Soriano in the ninth, took second on Carlos Gomezs walk and scored on Weeks base hit. The Brewers were 1 of 8 with runners in scoring position before Weeks at-bat. Staked to a 3-1 lead, Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo allowed four runs and eight hits over six innings. Gallardo has not won since June 19 and is 0-2 with 7.33 ERA in his last four starts. "You always want to start on a good mode coming out of the break. This was a tough gamme," Gallardo said. Seth Joyner Jersey. "Youve got to forget about it. Were going home." Gonzalez allowed three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts on 88 pitches over 3 1-3 innings. He left in the fourth with a runner at third and trailing 2-1. Gomez RBI groundout against Craig Stammen gave the Brewers 3-1 lead. Khris Davis and Jonathan Lucroy also drove in runs for Milwaukee. Gonzalez had his start pushed back one day after flight issues caused a delay in his return to Washington following the All-Star break. "Nine days off. It didnt help missing bullpen (session) and doing all that (work)," Gonzalez said. "Obviously my command and fastball location wasnt where I wanted it to be." Stammen retired all eight batters he faced after replacing Gonzalez. Zimmermans opposite field homer tied the game at 3-3. Jose Lobaton scored later in the inning with two outs on Gallardos wild pitch. Milwaukee loaded the bases with out in the second inning due in part to Zimmermans throwing error. Gonzalez escaped the jam with back-to-back strikeouts. The errant toss was the first error in 13 games for Zimmerman, who has battled right shoulder injuries, since returning to third base on June 30. The Nationals scored first on Ian Desmonds RBI hit in the second. They celebrated last on Werths clutch hit. "Any time you get a walk-off win its big for team morale," Stammen said. "Hopefully it will send us on a nice little winning streak." Notes: Adam LaRoches second-inning single snapped a 0-for-18 skid. ...Gonzalezs final strikeout doubled as the 1,000th for his career. ...Milwaukee fell to 29-21 on the road this season. ...The Brewers return to Milwaukee for a seven-game homestand, starting with Cincinnati on Monday. Wily Peralta (10-6, 3.72) faces Reds starters and fellow RHP Mat Latos (2-1, 2.79). ...RHP Doug Fister starts for Washington on Monday at Colorado versus Rockies LHP Franklin Morales (5-4, 5.26).
